HOW CAN WE HELP

Support services provided by Warrina Services are individualised and are formulated in consultation with the person with a disability and/or their family, and are designed to respond to the specific support needs of the individual. Support provided by Warrina Services is provided in the individual’s home or in their local community. Warrina Services does not provide a residential support service. The Disability Services Act, 2006 and the Disability Service Standards underpin all support services provided by Warrina Services. Services provided to people with a disability include:

Community access/recreation

This service provides support for people with a disability to access recreational and community venues and facilities, so as to provide opportunities for our Consumers to develop and maintain community networks and relationships;

Independent Living Training

This service provides opportunities for people with a disability to develop skills and to make choices towards greater independence. This may include assistance in developing the following skills: cooking, shopping, budgeting, domestic tasks, communication;

Personal Care

Warrina Services provides skilled Support Workers to provide personal care support where required;

Accommodation Support

This support provides assistance with household tasks for people with a disability living in their own home who are not able to undertake these tasks independently.

Socialisation and support

This support provides the individual with regular social contact and supports the individual to learn how to interact effectively with others to avoid isolation, loneliness, rejection and low-self-esteem. The aim of this support is to assist the individual to establish healthy interpersonal, peer and societal relationships;

Equipment Pool

Through a successful application to the Gambling Community Benefit Fund, Warrina Services has been able to establish an equipment pool. This pool includes a hoist, manual wheelchair, tilt chair, support belt, walker and a portable ramp. When a Consumer needs to use any of this equipment (eg. when their own equipment is under repair) then a Loan Contract is negotiated between the Consumer and Warrina Services. This service is only available to people receiving direct support services from Warrina Services.
